Electrification Manager, Network Development & Electrification, ESB Networks

Emma leads ESB Networks’ electrification team. Enabling the development of the distribution network for increased decarbonised electricity consumption across an expanded range of uses, along with associated strategic network investment strategies, sees Emma leading the charge on the extent of change emerging from the energy transition and mass electrification. Her activities include widespread engagement and collaboration with a range of stakeholders such as Irish Government, national authorities, and in Europe with utility peers and partners. 

With a career spanning almost 20 years, Emma has held pivotal roles in the energy sector that have focused on fostering innovation and driving impactful projects and change, including leading the commercialisation of a new electromobility business for ESB Group in Great Britain. 

Emma holds a Ph.D. from University of Galway, is a chartered engineer, and in her career has spent significant time working internationally, including in the UK, Africa, Middle East & Asia. She previously led post-doctoral research in alternative fuels for the United States Dept. of Energy, California. She has completed executive leadership programmes at UCD Smurfit & London Business School.
