Co-Founder at Meridiam, Deputy Chair at National Infrastructure Commission, UK

Julia is an expert in national and international investment with a passion for sustainability. With over 30 years’ experience in delivering projects across a wide range of sectors, she has become a trusted adviser to adviser to Government and industry. 

After a successful career as an investment banker, in 2005 Julia co-founded Meridiam which has grown to become one of the world’s leading infrastructure funds, with Julia continuing to serve boardroom roles across a number of Meridiam’s UK and European assets including the £2.4bn NeuConnect energy link, healthcare investor Fulcrum Infrastructure Group and leading EV charging company Allego. 

In 2023, Julia was asked to become the Deputy Chair of the UK’s National Infrastructure Commission having served 5 years as a Commissioner. Last year also, the Foreign Secretary appointed Julia as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Wilton Park – a Government agency supporting UK foreign policy development. 

She is Deputy Chair of the Port of Tyne in the UK, and an Honorary Professor at the Bartlett School, University College London, supporting the development of education in infrastructure delivery, and has set up three scholarships to support students. Julia was the co-founder of the Women Leaders in Infrastructure Group and is passionate about the need for the sector to be more inclusive and diverse so that infrastructure can better reflect the needs of those who use it.
